The first of its kind

Nowhere in the Caribbean has there ever been a “Festival of Wind! the likes of the Tobago Carnival Regatta 2009.

A veritable panorama of sails, from the Regional Bum Boats, Big boats , wind surfers and Kites boarders, the horizon was ablaze in colour.

Hosted on the striking Pigeon Point Beach, the traditional big boat sailors were treated to an “Air show” that will remain embedded in their minds for a long time. Over 30 kite boarders and 40 Wind surfers showed off the skills in the Blue waters of the Nylon Pool just off the beach, spanning from the Buccoo Barrier Reef to the Lagoon.

Many of the older heads who resisted the change in the Regatta were overwhelmed by what they saw and are now completely converted to the idea.

There has been a wave from around the world about next years regatta and the promoters are very pleased and looking forward to seeing that segment of it grow from strength to strength.

Catch the wind in 2010!
