Form the Canaries to the Caribbean
Last year the famous ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) included a bit more spice than usual, with the addition of the Tobago Carnival Regatta crew, who took the Arc by storm entertaining hundred of sailors with their warmth and hosting the first ever, Carnival Fete at the Muella de Porto in the Gran Canaria.
Hundreds of sailors partied with the Trinidad and Tobago group, danced to soca music and looked on in awe as Tony Williams thrilled them with his talented hands on the pan.
What were they doing all the way across the Atlantic hosting a Carnival fete? Well what better way to take the warm of their islands to the sailors as they prepare to cross the Atlantic to the Caribbean. The goal was primarily to entice their guests to come to Tobago for the Tobago Carnival Regatta on the 10-14th February 2009.
Would it work? Who knows. Time alone will tell. but which ever boats makes its way down south will be in for the time of their lives!!
